Welcome to mini-history today. We bless Christ for the grace to minister words that have been a blessing to your lives and we will really love to hear what God is doing through us to you.
As Christians, there are a couple of things we say as a form of joke or out of anger without realising their implications or if they can really happen. Sometimes, in outburst of emotions, we make pronouncements (as a form of expressing the magnitude of our feelings) that we don’t really believe can happen. What if what you said just happened? (Did I hear “God forbid”)? Good examples are expressions like “only God will settle this issue” or “this fight will only be settled when we get to heaven” (ladies you know what I’m talking about). But guess what? God has actually come down to settle fight amongst family members before and He can do it again (husbands and wives take note!).
So one day, a family meeting was held to discuss bro Moses’s marriage and especially his wife. His elder brother and sister had had enough of this African woman’s wahala (slang for “trouble”), so they took it upon themselves to straighten him (Moses) out on this issue. Brethren, this was no joke because God had to come down to settle the issue. For your reading pleasure I post the text from the bible.
“Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman. So they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it. (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.) Suddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out. Then the Lord came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward.”
Numbers 12:1–5 (NKJV)
Maybe in the midst of this heated argument, his sister Miriam had said “only God will settle this matter” and bam…God appeared on the scene to settle the matter.
But paying a closer look at this event you will notice the subject of discourse which started as Moses’s wife swiftly changed to who God talks to (spiritual hierarchy). I still can’t figure out the relationship between the two but my little experience has taught me that things are not always the way they are said.
Sometimes people tend to use something else (another issue) to express the bitterness, pain, anger, revenge, jealousy etc. in their hearts. From talking about your fitted shirt to why are you always raising your hands to ask questions or bring suggestion, and then they ask if you think you are the only one who is studying for PhD? Or it starts with your uniform not godly enough to why you keep taking pictures after service and how you like to testify –“are you the only one God is blessing?”
So Moses was caught in this crossfire from his own blood, the very people close to him with regards to family and ministry (they serve as leaders with him). His response to the situation and God’s way of dealing with issues, we will check out in our next edition.
Enjoy all of God.
I know that there have been times I have had needs that were not met from my point of view (as a man), I had prayed and asked God for certain things to happen which never did.
True entrepreneurship involves a mindset of solving problems. But real success goes well beyond the bottom line to impacting lives and leaving a legacy.
As a tradition/routine every New Year, most of us draw up a list of “New year resolutions” which most times we do not adhere to. Its important every New Year to live a more Christ-centered life
